Melbourne Vaccine Education Centre
Description of the website
The website of Melbourne Vaccine Education Centre is a member of the WHO-led project Vaccine Safety Net (VSN).
Melbourne Vaccine Education Centre (MVEC) is an educational website aimed at providing up-to-date immunization information for both healthcare professionals and members of the public.
Our Immunization References section provides an A-Z list detailing information on a wide range of immunization topics including vaccine safety and surveillance, immunization recommendations for special risk groups, and vaccine and disease information. Each reference page also has a list of topic-related external resources including news articles, studies and links to credible sources.
MVEC’s Victorian Immunization Schedule app for smartphones (VicVax) aims to assist healthcare providers in delivering scheduled immunizations to our community. The routine schedule is clearly set out based on the age of the patient. Additional immunization recommendations for special risk groups are also outlined.
Website’s sponsorship policy
MVEC is based at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), a research organization in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and is affiliated with SAEFVIC (Surveillance of Adverse Events Following Vaccination In the Community), the Victorian Vaccine Safety Service. MVEC is funded by SAEFVIC and the Victorian Government Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Immunization Section.
